Senior Privacy and Information Lawyer - Baseline Clearance
Initial secondment to 30 June 2025
The Role
We currently have a secondment opportunity available for an experienced Senior Privacy and Information Lawyer within a high profile Commonwealth Agency. Ideal candidates will have skills and experience in advising on the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and secrecy provisions.
The Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be required to work as a secondee within the Department’s in-house legal team.
High level stakeholder engagement skills are required as the successful candidate will be required to provide advice and assistance to a wide range of client areas, including briefing senior executives.
The secondee will be required to advise on:
- secrecy provisions;
- privacy assurance processes such as Privacy Threshold Assessments (PTAs) and Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs);
- privacy law legal advice;
- information and data exchanges, data sharing and governance (including third party data access arrangements and data matching); and
- general advice on privacy and information law.
The Requirements
A current practising certificate and extensive Commonwealth government experience providing legal advice under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) is essential.
Applicants must be Australian citizens and have a current Baseline Security Clearance.
